August! wow! Summer is moving along so very quickly! As our Governor and our Health Department work toward keeping folks informed and safe, we
Getting Back in the Groove! 7/17/2020 We've been welcoming guests for the last month and we sure have been happy to see everyone's smiling faces! Some important info for you to know - we are only operating one guest room* right now, as we watch the rise [and hopeful fall] of COVID cases in our community. While this means we do have limited availability, it also means that guests get to stay in our new Hideaway Suite, with its separate entrance and living room and kitchenette. And don't fret, a delicious breakfast is still included! We are being diligent in our cleaning, we want you to have the security of knowing you will have a clean place to stay with attention being paid to sanitation of those most used touch points, like door knobs, light switches and remotes and hand sanitizer provided for your use. We will wear masks in your presence and ask that you do the same [unless you are eating of course]. We realize this is awkward, but we want to protect those who are at risk, reduce the spread and respect the scientific guidance being provided for our well-being. Please be aware that as of this week, that masks are being required in most if not all local retail shops and in some adjoining counties there is a county wide mandate. The websites below can provide current information. *We are honoring reservations that were made prior to the outbreak for stays within the main house that we are able to.
Welcome to Summer and Welcome Back to The Charlotte! 6.22.2020 Dear Friends of The Charlotte, We want to thank those who were impacted by our temporary closure due to the Global Coronavirus Pandemic for their understanding of our decision. As we welcome summer, we wish to welcome folks back! Though we are not yet prepared to open the whole house, we have decided to open up the Hideaway Suite with a great new Summer Getaway Special Price - just $137.00 per night! [This does include a breakfast] So, if you are ready for a visit we will be here, masks on!
Letter to our guests regarding Re-Opening 5.22.2020
Dear Friends of The Charlotte, We have always been very proud of the care and service we provide to our guests and this will continue. We also feel a strong commitment to do whatever we can to reduce exposure to the COVID 19 virus for those at risk – they are members of our family, our friends and our community at large. Like many of you, we at The Charlotte have been keeping a close eye on this global pandemic. We are relying on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Heath Organization, the state Department of Health and industry standards for guidance on best practices to reduce the risk of transmitting the virus. We have already made changes in this area. Also like many of you, we have had to face making difficult decisions brought about by the Coronavirus. We have made some changes based upon our belief it will be in the best interest of the health of our guests as well as our community. This includes permanent closure of the Lavender room, allowing the Gold Room to have access to a private bathroom. Our breakfast service will change. We have also decided to continue our temporary closure for the rooms within the home, while the return to work, shopping, dining and full community activity begins. Our Hideaway Suite remains available for those who enjoy a more independent stay. We know this will come as a disappointment, and we are disappointed too! We enjoy meeting everyone and learning your stories! We’ve made wonderful friends who come back again and again. [We’ve appreciated your emails to check in on us, and we are continuing to do well! We are also confident that we will be seeing you in the future. We will ensure that anyone with a confirmed reservation who will be impacted by this temporary closure will be personally contacted and receive a refund of their deposit. We do want you to understand how hard this was; these are some of the facts we considered while making this very difficult decision:
While we don’t know each person’s situation, we do know that many of our guests fit into the high risk category as outlined by the (CDC).
We want to provide guests with as much notice as possible to avoid unnecessary last minute changes to their plans.
We believe that we are being most responsible by limiting travel and exposure, as our county, like many others in the state, is experiencing a number of cases, and the awesome things our wonderful city has to offer will be here in the future.
While we think our home is large when it is just the two of us, having a house full makes it that much harder to socially distance.
We thank you so much for your understanding. We wish good health to our guests, our families, our friends and those working in our communities to provide for all of us. -Loraine & Terri
